What does the future hold for Saint-Hubert Airport? On June 15, 2026, the airport will unveil a new terminal, marking a historic moment for the community and the region.
The new terminal, which occupies an impressive 21,000 square meters—equivalent to about three football fields—represents a significant investment of 500 million dollars, funded entirely by private sources. This ambitious project is expected to create between 500 and 1,000 jobs initially, with a total of over 2,500 jobs anticipated in the area.
Yanic Roy, a key figure in this development, remarked, “C’est un moment historique,” highlighting the importance of this milestone for the local community. The terminal will feature nine boarding bridges and a waiting hall with 900 seats, designed to accommodate more than one million visitors annually.
In addition to enhancing travel options, the airport is projected to generate economic benefits of around 400 million dollars, providing a much-needed boost to the local economy. An airport shuttle will connect the terminal to the Longueuil metro station every 30 minutes, ensuring easy access for travelers.
Charles Roberge expressed the vision for the airport, stating, “On veut que ce soit un aéroport avec la saveur du Québec,” emphasizing the desire to create a uniquely Quebecois experience for passengers.
Furthermore, Catherine Fournier noted that international flights will not be permitted from the Aéroport métropolitain de Montréal (MET), positioning Saint-Hubert Airport as a vital alternative for local travelers.
Historically, Saint-Hubert Airport is the oldest airport in Canada, and this new terminal will welcome its first commercial passengers since 1940, marking a significant revival in its operational history.
As the opening date approaches, excitement builds within the community, but details remain unconfirmed regarding the final preparations for the terminal’s launch. The anticipation of a new era for Saint-Hubert Airport is palpable, and the community looks forward to the opportunities it will bring.
