Amy Grant faced significant health challenges, including a traumatic brain injury, supported by her husband Vince Gill during her recovery.

Amy Grant has faced several health challenges since 2020, including multiple surgeries and a traumatic brain injury. In July 2022, she suffered this injury after a bike accident that left her unconscious for about ten minutes. The accident not only impacted her physical health but also raised questions about her future and music career.

Vince Gill, Amy’s husband since 2000, has played a crucial role in her recovery. He encouraged her to take life one day at a time. “Amy, life happens to every one of us every day… All you do is you just take the hand you’re dealt that day and live the life that you get.” His steady support has helped Amy navigate this challenging period.

Amy expressed her fears during recovery, saying, “What if this is all I get back? What if this is it?” These thoughts weighed heavily on her as she dealt with memory loss and balance issues stemming from her injury. Additionally, doctors discovered a throat cyst due to the trauma from the accident, which required five hours of surgery.

Since 2020, she has undergone numerous surgeries, including open-heart surgery. This series of health challenges has tested her resilience. Yet, through it all, Amy maintains a positive outlook. “I’ve had to be very patient with myself… But everybody is recovering from something. That’s life.” Her journey reflects not just personal struggle but also universal themes of endurance and hope.

Amy and Vince share a daughter named Corrina, who is now 25 years old. Amy also has three adult children from her previous marriage to Gary Chapman. The family has rallied around her during these tough times, providing love and support as she works toward recovery.

As part of her healing process, Amy plans to release a new album titled The Me That Remains, set for May 8, 2023. The album reflects on aging and resilience while incorporating insights from her recent health challenges.

Despite the hurdles she faces, observers are hopeful about Amy’s return to performing. She aims to resume touring in 2023, bringing with her stories of resilience and strength that resonate deeply with fans everywhere.
