“This is a resounding result and it gives us great strength. It gives us so much strength that it makes us unstoppable,” said Joan Laporta after winning the 2026 FC Barcelona presidential elections with 68.18% of the vote, totaling 32,934 votes.
The election, held at Spotify Camp Nou, saw a turnout of 48,440 members, representing 42.34% of the total membership. Laporta’s closest competitor, Víctor Font, received 29.78% of the vote, totaling 14,385 votes.
Laporta’s victory marks a significant moment for the club, as he will serve as president until at least 2031. His 32,934 votes are the second-most for a club president in FC Barcelona history, reflecting the support he has garnered during his tenure.
Reflecting on the election results, Laporta stated, “Our win is support for a job well done.” His leadership has been credited with restructuring the club’s debt and finding creative revenue streams, which have provided much-needed stability for FC Barcelona.
In contrast, Víctor Font expressed his excitement about the club’s unique position, stating, “It’s a special day. I’m very excited. We are a unique club in the world and days like today fill me with pride.”
Laporta’s first term as president from 2003 to 2010 was marked by significant successes, and he has been in his second term since 2021. His recent re-election is seen as a continuation of his vision for the club.
In addition to the presidential elections, Hansi Flick is set to renew his contract with Barcelona until 2028, further solidifying the club’s direction under Laporta’s leadership.
The Camp Nou, which has been in need of renovations, is expected to benefit from Laporta’s ongoing efforts to secure financial stability and growth for the club.
As FC Barcelona moves forward under Laporta’s presidency, the club aims to build on its recent successes and continue to enhance its standing in both domestic and international football.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding future plans for the club’s infrastructure and player acquisitions, but the focus remains on maintaining the momentum gained during Laporta’s leadership.
