The Boob Tour in Innisfail raised over $20,000 for the Alberta Cancer Foundation, showcasing the remarkable journey of cancer survivor Lindsay Taylor.

The 13th annual Boob Tour in Innisfail raised well over $20,000 for the Alberta Cancer Foundation, spotlighting the inspiring journey of cancer survivor Lindsay Taylor.

“I didn’t want cancer to define me,” said Lindsay, who has undergone extensive treatment including chemotherapy and a double mastectomy. Her resilience shone through as she shared her story during the event held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #104.

The Boob Tour sold 250 tickets at $30 each, demonstrating strong community support. Attendees enjoyed performances from stand-up comedians Dave Nystrom from Calgary and Edmonton’s Steve Darnell, who both emphasized the importance of supporting such causes.

Dave Nystrom remarked, “It’s a cause that touches a lot of people’s lives, almost everybody’s life in one way or another, so I’m really happy to be a part of it.” His words resonated with many in the audience who have been affected by cancer.

This year’s fundraising event not only surpassed previous records but also came at a time of change for local leadership. Todd Becker announced his retirement as CAO of Innisfail effective later this year after serving since August 2017.

Mayor Jean Barclay expressed gratitude towards Becker: “We are grateful for Todd’s leadership and vision over the past nine years.” These leadership changes can be both stressful and exciting for the community.

The success of the Boob Tour reflects not just individual stories like Lindsay’s but also the collective effort of Innisfail residents to support cancer research. With events like these, they continue to foster a spirit of giving and resilience.

The community looks forward to more initiatives that not only raise funds but also bring people together in support of vital causes.
