Luke Evans made a bold fashion statement at the 2026 Met Gala with a head-to-toe leather outfit inspired by Tom of Finland. The event took place on May 4 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
The ensemble featured a Palomo Spain burgundy leather structured jacket paired with flared Ass-Air trousers adorned with silver studs and buttons around the rear. Alejandro Gómez Palomo, the designer, noted, “The ensemble was inspired by the bold, graphic sensuality of Tom of Finland and reinterpreted through Palomo’s distinctive lens.” Evans completed his look with a matching leather hat, belt, gloves, black shoes, and dark sunglasses.
At 47 years old, Evans is currently captivating audiences as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in a revival of The Rocky Horror Show at Studio 54. He expressed his excitement about this milestone: “If you come from theater, you know everyone’s dream really is to do Broadway at least once. I finally got my moment in the most insane role I could ever imagine doing!”
The theme for this year’s gala was ‘Costume Art,’ encouraging attendees to explore fashion as an artistic expression. Co-chairs for the evening included stars like Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour.
Evans has also gained recognition for his role in Dracula: Untold, where he portrayed the iconic character in an origin story. He has expressed interest in reprising this role for Universal’s Dark Universe—though that project is currently on hold due to disappointing performances from previous films.
As observers reflect on this year’s gala and its artistic expressions, they look forward to how these bold interpretations might influence future fashion trends and theatrical performances.
