NHL Standings Update
The latest NHL standings indicate that the Buffalo Sabres and Tampa Bay Lightning are currently tied at 82 points in the Atlantic Division. This development comes as both teams strive for playoff positioning as the season progresses.
Buffalo has established a solid lead, sitting seven points clear of the Boston Bruins, who are currently struggling to keep pace in the division. The Detroit Red Wings hold the third position in the Atlantic, showcasing a competitive edge as they aim for a playoff spot.
In the Metropolitan Division, the New Jersey Devils find themselves nine points behind the New York Islanders for the third playoff position. Additionally, they are also nine points behind the Bruins for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
Highlighting individual performances, Lucas Raymond leads the Red Wings with 65 points in 61 games, while Alex DeBrincat has contributed significantly with 33 goals this season.
On another note, the Vancouver Canucks have been active in the draft scene, acquiring a total of nine draft picks since the Quinn Hughes trade on December 12. They now hold five selections in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, bringing their total to 10 picks for that draft, a feat not achieved since 2003.
Historically, the NHL reduced the number of rounds in the draft from nine to seven in 2005, making the Canucks’ current draft haul particularly notable. Meanwhile, the Flames are preparing for the future with six first-round picks in the next three drafts.
As the season continues, teams are closely monitoring their standings and playoff potential, with the competition intensifying as the playoffs approach. The current standings reflect a dynamic and unpredictable season in the NHL.
