‘I want to make a difference’: Noskova looks forward to life after Wimbledon triumph
Noskova’s Wimbledon Triumph and Future Aspirations
Linda Noskova, a Wimbledon champion, has expressed her desire to use her platform to make a difference beyond the tennis court. Following her victory, Noskova indicated that having a voice not only on the court but also off it is a primary motivation for her tennis career. She aims to address issues such as recycling, environmental protection, and assisting people in need in various countries.
Noskova secured her first Grand Slam title by defeating her compatriot Karolina Muchova in a match that concluded with a score of 6-2, 5-7, 6-3. The victory marks her as the sixth woman from her country to win the title in the open era. This achievement is expected to elevate her to a career-high ranking of No. 7, while Muchova is anticipated to rise to No. 6.
The 21-year-old Czech player regrouped impressively after letting a 6-2, 5-2 lead slip and squandering five championship points in the second set. She later reflected on the moment she saw the trophies, stating her determination to win the larger one. Her journey to becoming a Grand Slam champion has been described as unconventional, originating from a village of approximately 1,000 residents in eastern Czechia.
A Dedication and Environmental Passion
Noskova credited both her mother and father with fostering her love for the environment. Noskova mentioned that her upbringing in a small village, with easy access to nature, contributed to her strong connection with environmental causes.
Her commitment to social causes is not new. Last December, Noskova chose to volunteer at a school in Zanzibar, Tanzania, instead of taking a traditional pre-Christmas beach holiday. She described this experience as one of the most meaningful in her life. She also expressed an interest in returning to Zanzibar, potentially bringing tennis rackets to share.

Noskova’s rural upbringing, surrounded by forests and mountains, is something she believes cultivated her passion for environmental issues. Her parents, including her mother who took on temporary cleaning and laundry jobs to support her daughter’s tennis development, always prioritized her well-being and happiness, whether it was through school or sports.
Czech Tennis Success and Future Outlook
Noskova’s win continues Czechia’s strong association with Wimbledon, making her the third woman from the country to win the title in the past four years. Notable figures like nine-time champion Martina Navratilova and Petra Kvitova were present in the royal box during the final. Noskova, however, focused on the match, trying not to be distracted by the spectators.
When asked about the success of Czech tennis, Noskova pointed to the country’s history of champions and the abundance of tennis clubs and coaches. She noted that the presence of many tennis facilities in every city provides numerous opportunities for young children to engage in the sport. This environment, she suggested, allows aspiring players to see successful compatriots and believe in their own potential.

Looking ahead, the US Open, scheduled for the end of August, is an immediate target for Noskova. She is also likely to qualify for the season-ending WTA Finals, which will feature the top eight players of the calendar year and will be held in Indian Wells.
