The 2026 Travelers Championship will conclude on Monday morning with a sudden-death playoff between Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland. The two golfers are scheduled to tee off on the 18th hole of TPC River Highlands at 9 a.m. ET to determine the champion. The playoff became necessary after a significant weather delay impacted Sunday’s final round, leaving insufficient daylight to complete the competition.

Both Scheffler and Hovland finished their final rounds late Sunday night tied at 21 under. Scheffler secured his spot in the playoff by making an 8-foot par putt on the 18th hole. Hovland, who had a one-shot lead entering the fourth round, narrowly missed a 25-foot birdie attempt on the 18th, resulting in a 69 for his final round. Scheffler carded a 68 to match Hovland’s score.

The playoff will continue on the 18th hole until one player claims the title. The winner will receive a prize of $3.6 million, while the runner-up will be awarded $2.16 million.

Playoff details and broadcast information

The decision to postpone the playoff until Monday morning was made due to a 90-minute storm delay during Sunday’s final round. This delay meant that by the time Scheffler and Hovland completed their rounds, there was no daylight remaining for additional play. Hovland expressed his satisfaction with having another chance to win, stating he played a lot of great golf throughout the week.

Fans can watch the playoff on television via Golf Channel and NBCSN, with coverage beginning at 9 a.m. ET on Monday. Streaming options will also be available starting at the same time. The sudden-death format ensures a decisive outcome, with the golfers returning to the 18th hole until a winner is determined.

Collin Morikawa, who started the day nine strokes behind the leader, made a strong push with a nine-under 61, setting a clubhouse target of 20 under. He ultimately finished third in the tournament. England’s Matt Fitzpatrick finished a shot further back after a 64. Wyndham Clark, the US Open champion, carded a closing 65 to finish tied for fifth at 18 under.

Hovland’s journey to the playoff included overcoming a challenging period on the back nine where he dropped back after a fourth bogey. He managed to recover with three consecutive birdies from the 13th hole, bridging the suspension of play and pulling even with Scheffler. Hovland noted that for a while, he wasn’t even in second place, making his playoff berth particularly satisfying.
