Report: Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro have physical altercation in Las Vegas
Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, former teammates for the Miami Heat, were reportedly involved in a physical altercation in Las Vegas on Friday morning. Sources indicate that Adebayo struck Herro in the head area during the incident, which occurred at a practice court within a Las Vegas hotel.
The confrontation reportedly began when Adebayo approached Herro regarding comments the guard had made on social media. These comments, critiquing Adebayo’s defensive performance, were reportedly made after Herro’s seven-year tenure with the Heat concluded when he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Trade and Resentment
Herro was part of a significant trade that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Heat. The deal involved Miami sending Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, three first-round picks, one pick swap, and one second-round pick to Milwaukee in exchange for Antetokounmpo.
Prior to this trade, Adebayo was reportedly the only player Miami was unwilling to include in trade discussions. This stance, coupled with Adebayo signing a substantial extension with the team, reportedly led to a “level of resentment” among multiple former Heat players who viewed him as the “chosen one” within the organization.
Adebayo has spent all nine seasons of his career with the Heat since being selected with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He has earned six All-Defensive selections and three All-Star nods during his time in Miami, contributing to the team’s two NBA Finals appearances.
During the 2025-26 season, Adebayo averaged 20.1 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, shooting 44.2 percent from the field. He also expanded his shooting range, making 127 three-pointers in that season, surpassing the 102 triples he hit across his first eight seasons combined.
Aftermath and Player Comments
Herro was seen courtside at the Thomas & Mack Center for Friday’s summer league game between the Heat and Bucks. During an interview on the Prime broadcast, before news of the altercation emerged, Herro commented on seeing his former team, stating, “It’s all love in Miami.”
He added that he had seen several former teammates, coaching staff, and front office personnel, and that “we are all good in Miami.” Herro described the trade as an opportunity for both sides to “reset, get a fresh start,” and expressed that both parties were “super happy” with the outcome. He also noted that an organization like Miami aims for championships, and that the trade is “part of the business.”
After the game, Herro reportedly greeted the Bucks’ summer league players and spoke with Jaime Jaquez Jr. on the court before leaving without commenting on the incident with Adebayo. The Heat issued a statement saying, “We are aware and not commenting,” while the Bucks also declined to comment. Bucks coach Taylor Jenkins similarly offered a “no comment” when asked about the incident during an interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio, stating he did not know all the specifics.
Screenshots shared online after Herro’s trade to Milwaukee reportedly showed an Instagram direct message conversation where Herro appeared to question Adebayo’s defensive effort. Adebayo signed a three-year, $166 million extension with Miami in June 2024. The alleged comments by Herro in the direct message questioned whether Adebayo’s nightly defensive effort was commensurate with a player earning $60 million.
Herro, a former Sixth Man of the Year award winner, averaged 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists in 33 games during the 2025-26 season, after recovering from left ankle surgery. He was named an All-Star during the 2024-25 season, averaging 23.9 points, 5.5 assists, and 5.2 rebounds in 77 games. Adebayo, 28, is a three-time All-Star and was named to the All-Defensive first team in 2023-24, and the All-Defensive second team five times, including last season.
