Erika Kirk Appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board
Erika Kirk has been appointed to the United States Air Force Academy Board of Visitors by President Donald Trump. This appointment comes as she steps into a role that her late husband, Charlie Kirk, held before his assassination on September 10, 2025.
Erika Kirk will serve on the board for a minimum of three years or until a successor is chosen. The board, which has a total of 16 seats, currently has two vacancies. Erika Kirk, who won Miss Arizona USA in 2012, holds a Juris Master’s from Liberty University School of Law, which she earned in 2019. She also has an undergraduate degree in Political Science and International Relations from Arizona State University. Currently, she is pursuing a doctorate in Biblical studies, further emphasizing her commitment to education and leadership.
After her husband’s death, Erika took over leadership of Turning Point USA, an organization dedicated to promoting conservative values among young people. August Pfluger, a fellow conservative leader, expressed confidence in her capabilities, stating, “Erika is the right person to fill Charlie’s place on the Board and continue his work of inspiring the next generation of service members and advancing the Academy.”
As she embarks on this new chapter, Erika Kirk is also a mother of two children with Charlie Kirk, balancing her family life with her professional responsibilities. Her appointment is seen as a pivotal moment for the Academy, as she brings both personal experience and a strong commitment to the values her husband championed.
