Isiah Pacheco Signs with Detroit Lions
Isiah Pacheco is set to sign with the Detroit Lions after they traded David Montgomery to the Houston Texans. Pacheco, who previously played for the Kansas City Chiefs, brings a career total of 2,537 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns to his new team.
In the 2023 season, Pacheco showcased his skills by rushing for 935 yards and scoring seven touchdowns. His performance was pivotal in the Chiefs’ back-to-back Super Bowl victories in 2022 and 2023, where he emerged as a key contributor.
Pacheco was selected by the Chiefs in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, quickly earning a starting role during his rookie season. However, his performance faced challenges in the following seasons, particularly in 2024 when he struggled due to a fractured fibula injury.
In the 2025 season, Pacheco recorded 462 rushing yards and two total touchdowns, but his performance was further impacted by a knee injury. Despite these setbacks, he remains a promising addition to the Lions’ roster.
Pacheco will pair with Jahmyr Gibbs in the Lions’ backfield, filling the void left by Montgomery’s departure. “Pacheco offers a similar skillset to Montgomery but is two years younger,” noted analysts, highlighting the potential benefits of this signing.
The financial terms of Pacheco’s deal with the Lions have not yet been reported. Details remain unconfirmed, but his addition is expected to bolster the Lions’ offensive capabilities as they prepare for the upcoming season.
