Park Jin Young Steps Down from JYP Entertainment
“Park wants to dedicate his energy to his creative projects,” announced JYP Entertainment on March 10, 2026. This statement marks a significant shift for the founder and internal director, who has been a pivotal figure in the K-pop industry since the company was founded in 1997.
Park Jin Young will not seek reappointment during the upcoming shareholders’ meeting on March 26, indicating a clear intention to step back from his leadership role. However, he will remain actively involved in the company’s creative direction, ensuring that his influence continues to shape the K-pop landscape.
Despite his departure from the internal director position, Park’s commitment to JYP Entertainment remains strong. “He isn’t leaving the company he built. Instead, he’s returning to his roots as a creator and mentor,” the company emphasized, highlighting his ongoing dedication to nurturing talent.
Known for his hit songs such as ‘Don’t Leave Me,’ ‘Honey,’ and ‘Who’s Your Mama?’, Park Jin Young debuted as a solo artist in 1994 and has since written and produced numerous K-pop hits for artists under JYP Entertainment. His roster includes globally recognized acts like Wonder Girls, 2PM, Miss A, GOT7, TWICE, Stray Kids, ITZY, and NMIXX.
In addition to his work with JYP, Park serves as co-chairman of South Korea’s Presidential Committee on Cultural Exchange, where he aims to strengthen cultural cooperation between South Korea and other parts of the world. Government officials have noted, “His experience globalizing K-pop is invaluable,” underscoring his impact beyond the music industry.
In November 2025, Park released the digital single ‘Happy Hour’ with Kwon Jin-ah, further demonstrating his ongoing commitment to creative work. JYP Entertainment reported record sales in mid-2025, showcasing the company’s growth and success under his leadership.
As Park Jin Young transitions away from his formal role, the K-pop community will be watching closely to see how his creative projects evolve and how they will influence the future of JYP Entertainment.
