Maxx Crosby Trade Update
“Maxx continues to be on track in his recovery and if anything is ahead of schedule according to his surgeon Dr. Neal El Attrache,” stated Crosby’s agent, CJ LaBoy, shedding light on the recent developments surrounding the player.
The Baltimore Ravens had been poised to acquire Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders in a deal that would have sent two first-round draft picks to Las Vegas. However, the trade fell through when the Ravens’ medical staff expressed concerns after reviewing Crosby’s MRI results.
Crosby, who is currently 28 years old, underwent surgery in January to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. He missed the final two games of the 2025 season due to this injury, raising questions about his long-term health.
Despite his recent surgery, Crosby had an impressive season last year, recording 10 sacks and a career-high 28 tackles for loss. Over his seven seasons with the Raiders, he has accumulated a total of 69.5 sacks and 133 tackles for loss, demonstrating his significant impact on the field.
The Ravens’ defense, which finished tied for 28th in the league with only 30 sacks last season, was looking to bolster their lineup with Crosby’s talents. However, the evaluation of his knee led to the conclusion that the risk of acquiring him was not worthwhile.
As reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, “The risk wasn’t worthwhile after evaluating his knee, which is still on the mend after meniscus surgery.” This assessment ultimately influenced the Ravens’ decision to back out of the trade.
In light of the failed trade, Crosby has expressed frustration with the handling of his injury, paraphrased saying, “Man, screw these guys. They’re shutting me down. I am not about this. Hell, no. I’m not doing it. I left the facility. I’m out. I want to get traded. I’m done.” His desire to remain with the Raiders remains, but the situation is complicated.
Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who performed Crosby’s surgery, noted that the timing of the Ravens’ assessment was unfortunate, as the apparent risk would likely lessen as Crosby’s recovery progresses.
