Samsung is considering adding a fourth model to the Galaxy S27 lineup, which could introduce a new lower-priced Pro variant that will not support the S Pen. This potential addition comes shortly after the release of the Galaxy S26 lineup just a couple of months ago.
In a recent move, Samsung has raised the prices of select Galaxy phones already on the market, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The price for the 1TB version has increased from $2,419.99 to $2,499.99, marking an $80 rise. Similarly, the 512GB model now retails for $2,199.99, also reflecting an $80 increase, while the 256GB version is priced at $1,999.99.
Samsung’s co-CEO, TM Roh, acknowledged the challenges posed by the global memory shortage, stating that “no company is immune” to such pressures. This has led the company to revise prices for already released units, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, which have also seen price hikes in Korea.
Historically, Samsung has launched three flagship Galaxy S phones every January or February for years, establishing a consistent rhythm in their product releases. The Galaxy S24, for instance, is still considered a worthwhile purchase even in 2026, with promises of updates for five more years.
However, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be the last model to feature a Bluetooth S-Pen, marking a significant shift in the Galaxy S series. Additionally, it is noted that Samsung’s Galaxy S phones typically lose about half their value within the first year, with the Galaxy S23 series experiencing a 49.7% drop in value at six months and 55.5% at twelve months.
As for the upcoming Galaxy S27 lineup, details about its features remain vague, and specific upgrades related to performance, battery life, and AI capabilities have yet to be confirmed. Observers are keenly awaiting more information as Samsung continues to navigate these challenges in the competitive smartphone market.
