Shake Shack has announced that it will open its first location in Alberta at CF Chinook Centre in Calgary, with the opening expected in spring 2026. This marks a significant expansion for the popular burger chain, which currently operates seven locations in Ontario.
The new Calgary location will be Shake Shack’s first in Western Canada, highlighting the brand’s growth since it launched in Canada in 2024. Billy Richmond, a representative for Shake Shack, expressed enthusiasm about the new venture, stating, “Since launching in Canada in 2024, Alberta has always been on our radar and we are excited for our launch.”
Located at 6455 Macleod Trl. S, the restaurant will not only serve its signature menu items, including Angus beef burgers, chicken burgers, hot dogs, crinkle cut fries, milkshakes, frozen custards, and concretes, but it will also feature some Calgary exclusives.
In a unique touch, the restaurant will showcase original artwork by Calgary-based artist Irene Neyman. Neyman commented on the mural, saying, “The mural is meant to feel playful, welcoming, and connected to Calgary – a space people want to spend time in.” This local artistic element aims to create a sense of community and connection for patrons.
Shake Shack started as a hot dog cart in New York City’s Madison Square Park in 2001, eventually opening its first storefront in 2004. Since then, it has grown into a beloved brand known for its quality ingredients and community-focused initiatives.
