A powerful late-season winter storm is set to impact the Sierra Nevada, Rocky Mountains, and Atlantic Canada, bringing significant snowfall and dangerous conditions.

Environment Canada has issued warnings for all of mainland Nova Scotia, P.E.I., and southern New Brunswick due to a low-pressure system. This system is expected to bring 25 to 40 millimetres of rain across the Maritimes, along with high winds that may gust up to 100 km/h in western Cape Breton.

In the Sierra Nevada, forecasts predict snowfall of up to 4 feet with wind gusts reaching 70 MPH. Residents above 6,000 feet can expect between 1 to 2 feet of snow. This winter storm warning has left many wondering how it will affect travel plans in the region.

The Rocky Mountains are also bracing for severe weather. Colorado and Wyoming can expect heavy snow, with Winter Storm Watches and Warnings already posted. Reports indicate that northern and central mountains in Colorado could see between 8 to 12 inches, while Denver anticipates around 5 to 8 inches through Wednesday.

The situation in Atlantic Canada is particularly concerning. More than 6,000 Nova Scotia Power customers lost electricity due to high winds and rain. Northumberland Ferries may cancel service between P.E.I. and Nova Scotia because of these conditions, while the Confederation Bridge has issued a wind advisory with traffic restrictions.

This late-season snowstorm follows a cold front sweeping through parts of the U.S., which has been linked to severe weather patterns across various regions. Local officials urge residents to prepare for difficult driving conditions and potential power outages.

As this storm unfolds, communities are on high alert for updates from local authorities regarding safety measures and travel advisories.
