As his health deteriorated, DeCarlo’s family launched a GoFundMe page to assist with his medical bills, successfully raising over $56,000, surpassing their initial goal of $50,000. This support from fans and the community illustrated the deep connection DeCarlo had with his audience.
On March 9, 2026, DeCarlo’s family announced his passing at the age of 60. They shared their grief on social media, stating, “It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Dad, Tommy DeCarlo, on Monday, March 9th, 2026.” They also expressed gratitude for the support received during his illness, asking for privacy as they mourned.
A Lasting Legacy
DeCarlo’s contributions to Boston were significant, as he recorded a tribute song for Brad Delp shortly after joining the band. His passion for music was evident, as he once remarked, “We love to listen to it, but to actually perform it live, that’s almost indescribable.”
In addition to his work with Boston, DeCarlo formed a band with his son called DECARLO, which released their debut album ‘Lightning Strikes Twice’ in January 2020. This venture showcased his enduring love for music and his desire to share it with the next generation.
