Recent Trades in the NHL
“The Canucks indicated earlier this season they would be willing to move pending UFAs before Friday’s deadline,” reported TSN’s Farhan Lalji, highlighting the Vancouver Canucks’ strategy as the trade deadline approaches.
In a significant move, the Vancouver Canucks traded David Kampf to the Washington Capitals in exchange for a sixth-round pick. Kampf, who is 31 years old, has recorded two goals and six points in 38 games this season, bringing his career totals to 50 goals and 149 points across 574 games.
Another notable trade involved Lukas Reichel, who was sent to the Boston Bruins, also for a sixth-round pick. Reichel has had a modest season, tallying two goals and five points in 19 games with the Canucks, while also contributing six goals and 13 points in 23 games with the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks.
Reichel is currently in the final season of a two-year, $2.4 million contract, making this trade a strategic move for both teams involved.
In addition to these trades, Kampf has represented Czechia at The Winter Olympics, where he recorded a goal and three points, and he has also won a gold medal in the 2024 World Hockey Championships and a bronze in 2022.
Despite these trades, pending unrestricted free agents Evander Kane and Teddy Blueger have not been moved and will remain with the Canucks, as noted by Lalji.
Meanwhile, in a separate but noteworthy development, the Baltimore Ravens are set to acquire five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders, trading first-round picks in 2026 and 2027 for him, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
As the trade deadline nears, teams are making decisive moves to strengthen their rosters, with General Manager Brad Treliving discussing the Maple Leafs’ roster construction issues and potential trade deadline moves.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the status of other players and potential trades as teams finalize their strategies ahead of the deadline.
