“The alleged offences took place in Winnipeg and surrounding areas,” said a spokesperson for the Winnipeg Police Service.
Carson Alexander Parago, a 23-year-old pastor and youth camp director, has been charged with multiple counts including sexual assault and sexual exploitation. The charges stem from allegations that he groomed a teenage camp counsellor and engaged in a sexual relationship with her.
The alleged incidents occurred between August 2025 and March 2026. Parago was arrested on April 30 after authorities were alerted to the situation in March.
In addition to sexual assault, he faces charges for luring a person under 18 and distributing sexually explicit material to someone underage. The community is grappling with the implications of these serious allegations against someone who held a position of trust.
This case isn’t the only troubling incident reported recently in Winnipeg. A separate case involved a 40-year-old man charged with animal cruelty after he allegedly killed a kitten and threw a knife at a woman who confronted him about it.
