Jessi Draper is actively dating during her divorce from Jordan Ngatikaura, a journey she describes as part of her healing process. As she navigates this new chapter, she emphasizes the importance of feeling valued in relationships.
At 20 years old, Jessi found herself single for the first time since she was 19. “I know a lot of people don’t understand that I’m dating and hanging out and just having fun,” she says. For her, it’s not just about finding companionship; it’s about rediscovering herself.
To meet potential partners outside of online dating, Jessi took a bold step—she deleted all dating apps. Instead, she tried 47 different hobbies to connect with others in real life. “I decided to do something radical: I deleted the apps and tried 47 different hobbies to meet the man of my dreams in real life,” recalls Matt Bell, who inspired her journey.
However, not every hobby proved fruitful for social interaction. Some were better suited for meeting new people than others. This realization has shaped how Jessi approaches her social life today.
While Jessi enjoys the thrill of dating, concerns arise from friends about the dynamics of her new relationships. One friend expressed worry over a controlling partner she met online, highlighting that “E-Dating is only unsafe if you aren’t careful. Just like regular dating.”
This friend has known Jessi since 2021 and feels that her personality has changed since entering this new relationship. He worries that she has become rude and less approachable.
Yet Jessi remains steadfast in her belief that feeling valued is essential. “When you’re in a relationship where you don’t feel valued and you don’t feel like you were treated well, it feels so nice to just talk to people who make you feel valued and treat you well,” she reflects.
As Jessi balances motherhood—she has her kids 50% of the time—with her quest for self-growth through dating, she continues to explore what makes her happiest. Her journey serves as a reminder that even amid challenges like divorce, personal growth can flourish.
