Nancy Mace under investigation by House ethics committee
Nancy Mace is currently under investigation by the House ethics committee regarding allegations of improper reimbursement claims. The inquiry focuses on claims that Mace improperly sought more than $9,485 in reimbursements for housing costs related to her property in Washington D.C.
The Office of Congressional Conduct (OCC) reported that Mace’s reimbursement requests consistently exceeded her actual property expenses during several months in 2023 and 2024. The OCC also noted that Mace had requested and received the maximum allowable reimbursement for her property, in which she holds a 28% ownership stake.
Details remain unconfirmed as Mace did not respond to inquiries from the OCC and declined to participate in an interview for their review. Her attorney has criticized the OCC report as “fundamentally flawed,” claiming it includes unverified assertions.
This investigation comes at a time when Mace is not seeking re-election to the House and is instead campaigning for the Republican nomination for governor of South Carolina. The primary for this nomination is scheduled for June 9.
